Bed Bug Control for Sydney: A Revolutionary Treatment

Bed Bug Control for Sydney: A Revolutionary Treatment

The short life span of the bed bug, like many insects, means its evolutionary path is one that can be easily observed in a human lifetime. And this ability to adapt is one of the reasons behind their resurgence. Their carapace, when measured against those in the 1970s, has increased in thickness by up to 15%, according to researchers. This has occurred directly due to our dependence on pesticides; the bugs have evolved to beat it.

But like an evolutionary path, our knowledge has also progressed. Those of us engaged in bed bug control in Sydney have been obliged to change methods, to continue to do battle against this insatiable creature. We have taken the fight to them in different ways, using new methods. One of them has recently shown considerable promise.

The usage of heat, in steam cleaners, has been brought to the fight. A strong blast of steam will kill bed bugs, including their eggs. The only problem with this notion? It isn’t always easy to get heat in to the cracks and niches which are frequented by bed bugs. This particular issue has been tackled by another unique product.

Silica dust has been shown to impact upon the body of a beg bug, interfering with their movement, and drying them out. The fine dust is picked up by the bed bug’s body, and eventually dehydrates it to the point of death. It does the same with eggs and larvae, and it is safe around humans, big and small, and pets. A layering of dust does not lose its potency over time (apart from in very humid environments), and by spreading it on known bed bug highways, we can make sure that they are exposed.

As we fight this tiny beast, we must use any option that we have to gain the upper hand. As more research emerges, we will hopefully become better acquainted with methods that keep us sleeping tight.
